P2X receptors: Introduction

ATP acting via P2 receptors (P2Y and P2X family members) serves as an essential mediator of functional responses in human eosinophils [2], responses which may be implicated in the pathogenesis of various forms of airway inflammation [3]. Potential targeting of purinergic receptors for the treatment of gout and fibrosis is reviewed in [1].
